That experience was transcendent in that her gentle conversational style drew out of me not only my on the road and current project’s experience but also my songs became newly discovered or reworked in those moments of recording with her. Rewriting the songs as I performed them seemed like there was some kind of magic at work. For me, they arrived at a freshly conceived creative space. I was no longer writing as a former band member but as a solo artist with a vibe that worked for me (and for numerous others who have since heard my songs) that was uniquely my voice, my guitar playing, my newly created album style, my new world.
